In a surprising collaboration that challenges traditional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Revealed

According to the formal release, "A strange confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where hints of prohibited rituals and terrifying changes resonate through the shadows." The plot introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden group.

The adventure centers on "peculiar trials and a monstrous foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Changes

The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a striking moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Additional Features

Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an unique katana together with several objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps steed

Newest Free Story Addition

This patch also brings the game's third free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Past Anime Partnerships

This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that obviously nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
