Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report initial examinations show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.
A high-ranking political figure said the incident rendered him speechless and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
